Shape Worship – A City Remembrancer OUT NOW
Shape Worship’s debut album, A City Remembrancer, is OUT NOW on 12″ LP and DL.
“I think this is Gillett’s debut, and gets some serious applause from this camp as a result; this is brilliantly constructed stuff” – Norman Records
“Gillett’s work is sweetly charismatic, with fullsome production, well-crafted drums and warped keyboards of several species” – The Wire
“the album is a step on from the more linear approach of Gillett’s earlier singles, dealing in layers of abstract ambience peppered with slithers of rhythm” – Juno Plus
You can stream the whole album over at Juno Plus.

The EP is based on the life of Maria Murray (nee Middleton) – former slave and convict who found her way from Belize to Australia and a new life. In Belize (then British Honduras) she was tried and found guilty of the murder of William Mair in 1825. Mair was a disbanded soldier that Maria stayed with after she ran away from slave owner Mary White.

Welcoming Shape Worship
We are delighted to announce that f&f will be releasing the debut album by Shape Worship later this year.
Shape Worship is the project of South London producer and musician Ed Gillett, whose first two EPs, released in 2013 on the labels Exotic Pylon and Gang of Ducks, take influences from club music, sampling, ambient textures and experimental electronics, creating densely-layered pieces rich in melody and detail. The return of Doomed Bird
The Doomed Bird of Providence return this summer with a new EP, and then a new album, for Front and Follow…
For their forthcoming release The Doomed Bird of Providence have been busy developing musical pieces based on one person who perhaps no one would know about were it not for some of the historical reseach taking place in Tasmania. That person is Maria Murray, a woman born into slavery in British Honduras (now Belize) in the early 19th century. Her story took many turns, often for the worst but sometimes for the better. The song ‘Fedicia Exine’ from the band’s first album ‘Will Ever Pray’ is loosely based on her life and that of her child – Fedicia. This EP attempts create a broader picture by piecing together experiences of Maria Murray and those around her using a variety of sources including original court records and reports. It is a homage of sorts to her resilience and the arbitratry, often unfortunate, nature of life in general.
